Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania’s most beautiful and wildlife-rich safari destinations, located in the northern circuit. The park is famous for its vast landscapes filled with iconic baobab trees, seasonal swamps, and open savannah plains. It is named after the Tarangire River, which serves as the main water source for wildlife during the dry season, attracting large concentrations of animals and creating some of the most impressive game viewing in East Africa.

The park is especially known for its large elephant populations, often seen in big herds moving across the plains or gathering near the river. In addition to elephants, Tarangire is home to lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, wildebeest, and many species of antelopes. During the dry season, the park becomes a wildlife magnet as animals migrate from surrounding areas in search of water, offering exceptional photographic and game viewing opportunities.

Tarangire also offers excellent birdwatching, with over 500 recorded species, making it one of the best birding destinations in Tanzania. Game drives provide diverse scenery, from baobab-dotted hills to wetlands filled with wildlife activity. The park is less crowded compared to Serengeti and Ngorongoro, giving visitors a more relaxed and intimate safari experience. Tarangire is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring northern Tanzania’s safari circuit.
