Posted on Tripadvisor RudolfVerified Feels like home It was our fourth trip with Joachim as our guide for this private tour. We have learned to know Joachim as very friendly and caring person for his guests. He also is a good organiser, as we have experienced twice already, one of them this year with his own company. Safari requires a lot of patience, so we booked a two week trip with Ndutu as the main destination. At previous occasions we have been watching Wildebeast migration in Serengeti, but now Joachim recommended us to to go to the far south for the birth season of the Wildebeast. We had a marvellous time with a mix of camping, luxury camps and beautiful lodges. I part we knew what to expect but Joachim managed to surprise us still. We also visited a project of Leads foundation. It was not so easy to organize but we saw the transition of Massai sheperds to farmers while regrowing trees and make the grass grow again. A fantastic experience which you will not find in any guide but with a lot of thanks to both Lead Foundation and Joachim we could have this local experience. A trip like this is not cheap, but Rover Safaris charged us with very reasonable prices. Joachim is a excellent spotter of wildlife, you don't need other guides to find a leopard, if there is one, he finds it for you. Also he knows lots of people all over the country so he can arrange a local experience you will not find with the big travel agencies. If you appreciate to live the local life, learn a few Swalili words and ask Rover Safaris.Posted on Tripadvisor Britt LVerified Top safari! Posted on Tripadvisor NoorVerified Amazing Safari with Rover adventures Amazing safari with the best guide you can think of! If we ever go on safari again, we’d love to go with Joachim! He is a very experienced guide who can tell you everything about the nature around you. He is super familiar with the surroundings, knows the way, and drives very safely. He taught us a lot about birds, ungulates, and everything else we saw. He avoided the crowds, which we also really liked. We were on a trip with him for 8 days and we had a great time. Joachim speaks fluent English and we talked a lot about Tanzania. The atmosphere in the car was relaxed and we felt comfortable from the start. If you go on safari we would HIGHLY recommend Joachim as your guide, he is the best for safari in Tanzania. We visited different parks: Tarangire, Manyara, Serengeti, and more. We saw over 130 different bird species, all of the big 5, and many more ungulates. Having a good, experienced guide is crucial for the quality of your safari. If we were to visit Tanzania again, we’d book with Rover safaris!Posted on Tripadvisor Jacobine vVerified Simply the BEST! Best safari trip we could have ever imagined, and not a ‘once in a lifetime’ trip. After this I am hooked and will definitely book again with Rover Safari. Our guide was incredibly professional, reliable, knowledgable, fun and friendly.Posted on Tripadvisor DrAlla61Verified Unforgettable trip with Joachim Joachim made our trip to Tanzania truly unforgettable. His professionalism, kindness, ability to listen, unparalleled ability to spot animals are all in the League of its own. We started in Arusha, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Central and Northern Serengeti, all was covered with great attention, explanation of animal behavior, Joe is really an animal whisperer. He stopped, looked, drove and… incredible scenery is in front of you. From Lions mating to Zebra nursing, from unforgettable migration of Wildebeests over Mara River to yawning Hypos, from gorgeous Cheetahs to impressive Leopards, from magestic Elephants to nevertheless kind of cute Hyena….. the list goes on.. We were lucky to have Joachim as your guide! I wish you all the same remarkable trips! Posted on Tripadvisor Amelia SVerified My unforgettable Safari Trip in Tanzania! Rover Safari is so professional! They arranged every part smoothly, and I didn’t need to worry about anything. The hotels, meals, communication and service were all excellent—I really have wonderful memories of Tanzania:-) By the way, what impressed me most was our guide. He knew all the different animals we encountered along the way and shared so many interesting stories about them. I’ve already recommended Rover Safaris to my friends, and I hope they keep getting better and better!Posted on Tripadvisor Jill BVerified A Truly Unforgettable and Fulfilling Safari Experience Safari Guide Review – A Truly Unforgettable and Fulfilling Safari Experience First, let me start by saying this: if you’re reading this review, you’re already doing the right thing by doing your research. My daughter (18) and I went on safari with a dream itinerary: 2 nights in Arusha 3 nights in Tarangire National Park 3 nights in Karatu (near Ngorongoro Crater) 3 nights in Central Serengeti 2 nights in Northern Serengeti 1 final night in Arusha before our departure The single most important factor in any safari is your guide, and this is where our experience went from amazing to truly exceptional. The Guide: Joachim Your guide will either make or break your safari and lucky for you that the owner of your tour company will be your guide! Joachim far exceeded every expectation we had. His combination of interpersonal skills, wildlife-spotting talent, and expert driving was already impressive. But his deep knowledge of ecosystems, conservation, and animal behavior elevated the experience to something resembling a personalized, university-level course in the wild. I brought dozens of questions with me, some of my own, others from my students and colleagues, covering topics from climate change and conservation to animal adaptations, behavior, reproduction, and symbiotic relationships.. Joachim answered them all with clarity, insight, and genuine enthusiasm. He turned each day into an opportunity to learn, not just see. Even small touches, like turning off the engine during sightings (even short ones) and preferring to find wildlife without relying on the radio, showed his respect for the animals and his confidence in his own tracking abilities. As a result, we often found ourselves alone at sightings, able to fully absorb the moment without a crowd. (Side note: If you do end up near other vehicles, please be quiet. Loud voices can ruin the experience for others and the wildlife.) Arusha Highlights In Arusha, we visited Shanga, an inspiring community of artisans with disabilities who create beautiful works from recycled materials, everything from woven blankets to glass art. We also shopped at the Cultural Heritage Centre and the Maasai Market, where dozens of stalls offer beaded jewelry, wooden sculptures, and visual art. It’s a great place for souvenirs and to practice your bargaining skills! Be friendly but firm, and remember these two phrases: Asante sana = thank you very much Hapana asante = no thank you Joachim was by our side the entire time, ready to help if we needed anything. Tarangire National Park Tarangire stole my heart with its majestic elephants. We spent hours watching them drink, play-fight, take mud baths, and interact tenderly with one another. The park is also known for its ancient Baobab trees, which are not only stunning but ecologically vital to the landscape. Karatu and Community Outreach In Karatu, our experience went beyond wildlife. In collaboration with Ernest at Foresight Lodge, we participated in a community outreach program, donating a cow to a local family and visiting both the family and their village. We also brought suitcases full of school supplies for a nearby primary school and had the joy of meeting the students there. These experiences added a meaningful human connection to our journey. Ngorongoro Crater Ngorongoro delivered incredible wildlife sightings. Two highlights: A Black Rhino emerging from dense brush A dramatic scene with two male lions, 25+ hyenas, and several jackals gathered around a kill Southern & Central Serengeti On the way to Central Serengeti, Joachim asked if we’d be open to a detour through Southern Serengeti; a quieter area where guides are allowed to drive off-road. We were in! That decision led to one of our most magical moments: a leopard sighting, all to ourselves. We parked under the tree and watched, from a respectful distance, as the sleepy leopard lounged above. When I return to Tanzania, I’ll definitely include Southern Serengeti for a few days in my itinerary. In Central Serengeti, we had more unforgettable sightings: A pride of lions with tiny cubs, eyes wide and curious A mother cheetah with her cub, spotted on three separate occasions, including one just 200 yards from our tent, bathed in golden morning light Northern Serengeti and the Great Migration Finally, the Northern Serengeti, where the Great Migration culminates in the legendary Mara River crossings. It takes patience and a bit of luck, but it’s worth every second. There’s nothing quite like watching hundreds of wildebeest pour into the river, driven by instinct and survival. It’s awe-inspiring and humbling. In Summary Joachim truly made the trip unforgettable! His expertise, passion, and integrity brought the landscape to life in a way no itinerary ever could. To anyone planning a safari: take your time, do your research, and don’t underestimate the importance of your guide. Asante sana, Joachim. You made this the experience of a lifetime.Posted on Tripadvisor Eric FVerified Unforgettable Safari Experience! My wife and I went on safari with Rover and cannot recommend them strongly enough. Our 10 day trip included Tarangire (underrated park!), Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti. The entire process, from initial booking to the safari itself to our journey home was smooth and tailored to the exact experience we wanted. The vehicle was cleaned every night, well stocked with water, and even included outlets for cell phone charging and WiFi. Outside of sleeping, we spent the most time on our trip in the car so we appreciated how well maintained it was. Our driver and guide was a true expert, able to answer our many questions, no matter how obscure. We started off, like most folks, focusing on the larger wildlife like elephants, lions, and giraffes. By the end of the trip, we were bombarding him with questions about smaller mammals, the occasional lizard, and above all the dozens of birds we encountered. Our guide always could identify the animal (usually on sight, which was particularly impressive with the countless birds) and give us context on how the animal fit into the broader ecosystem. He was also an expert driver and made sure we were comfortable throughout our trip. Notably, we had a heavy downpour in the Serengeti in the early afternoon while we were waiting for a Mara River crossing. I could see the rain moving in, and he obviously did as well. Our guide got us moving back toward camp at the perfect time - we stayed as long as possible to potentially catch a crossing, but got back to the main roads of the park before the smaller routes became a muddy mess. A lot of other vehicles from other companies remained at the crossing as we left, and I would imagine they had a much tougher time navigating back in the storm. This was just one example of how well he balanced sightseeing opportunities with our comfort and safety, and I really valued it. This was our first safari experience, but I don’t think it will be our last. If we return to Tanzania, we’d use Rover again, and strongly recommend them to anyone considering a safari there.Posted on Tripadvisor Sherpa27530819890Verified Perfect Experience Despite our request a week ago and despite our packed schedule, they have arranged a tour according to our wishes. It was an unforgettable and inspiring experience to meet so many animals and amazing scenery during a series of tours starting from Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. Our guide and driver, Joachim, was kind and flawless in his work, which was great. If you’re traveling to Tanzania, you can’t go wrong with this company!
